Training Mentors and Mentees on Their Roles in a Mentorship

The success of a mentorship is ultimately determined by the commitment of both the mentor and mentee. For this reason, many organizations featured in APQC’s recent Workplace Mentoring study offer comprehensive, role-specific training to convey the big-picture value of mentoring and prepare participants for their responsibilities and interactions.
The organizations understand that mentors and mentees need to be prepared before they embark on their relationships. The research suggests that a range of training styles and formats can be effective, as long as both mentors and mentees emerge with a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
