Sample Interview Questions to Elicit Project-Related Knowledge

As part of their knowledge retention and transfer processes, many organizations record oral histories from key employees approaching retirement in order to capture knowledge about their projects and experiences, how they overcame work-related challenges, and their ideas for the future. These interviews can help fill in gaps in tacit knowledge and draw out lessons learned and decision-making rubrics that may not be documented elsewhere. This document contains sample questions that organizations can use when interviewing subject matter experts or other long-tenured employees about the specific projects on which they have worked.
