At APQC's 2015 Process Conference, Mary Lou Palmieri and Paul Surato described the experience of implementing status reports and dashboards at the United Illuminating Co. (UI). Entitled, "Overcoming Inertia: Status Reports and Dashboards Centered on Simplicity, Speed, and Value," their presentation focused on UI's development of the communication tools, but more importantly, the hurdles faced during implementation. Defining inertia as, "a lack of movement when movement is clearly needed," the presenters shed light on ways to engage stakeholders within an environment resistant to change.
