At APQC's 2016 Knowledge Management (KM) Conference, APQC research program managers Elissa Tucker and Lauren Trees shared findings from APQC's 2016 best practices study, "Workplace Mentoring for Technical and Nontechnical Audiences." Using examples from eight successful mentoring programs, they discussed how organizations use different types of mentoring to transfer critical knowledge from experts to less experienced colleagues. They also shared best practices spanning the entire mentoring life cycle: selecting and pairing participants, setting goals and expectations for the mentoring relationship, keeping participants engaged, and assessing and communicating mentoring program outcomes.
