One approach organizations have taken to benefit from information transparency is to share real-time, electronic demand and inventory levels within the enterprise and with external partners. To determine the potential impact of this approach, APQC compared the logistics performance of organizations that have adopted this practice against the performance of those that have not. The results call into question whether organizations have sufficiently developed their logistics processes to get the full benefit of information visibility.
