How Common Data Definitions Affect Analytics Maturity

It is common sense to insist on enterprise-wide standardization of data definitions. Indeed, without that, further efforts to standardize systems, policies, procedures, and process management are unlikely to gain traction. The ultimate idea is to take unnecessary noise and obfuscation out of performance information that rises up from multiple operating entities and is consolidated at HQ for discussion about resource allocation and strategy shifts. Better still, APQC finds a strong correlation between relatively high adoption of common data definitions and analytics maturity.
