As an engineering specialist at Caterpillar Inc., Timothy Glaue believes that retaining technical knowledge is the key to beating the competition. This can be done, he said, by creating technical communities of practice (CoP) to nurture technical competency and skills while enhancing the succession pipeline, individual development, sharing, and innovation. At APQC’s 2016 KM Conference in Houston, Glaue discussed Caterpillar’s technical CoP program and how it has evolved since inception.
