In 2021, APQC conducted a large-scale research study on the productivity of knowledge workers. The project was designed to gauge how workers think about personal and team productivity, how their productivity is measured, and the factors that make them more vs. less productive. The research explored the impact of productivity challenges and the relative value of interventions to better define and standardize work and connect employees to one another and the information they need to work effectively.

The Fixing Knowledge & Process Productivity Problems collection contains APQC’s findings from this project. Several members reached out saying that they would like to conduct similar analysis inside their own organizations, so we are publishing a version of the survey we used. Feel free to adapt these questions for your employee surveys if you want to understand productivity attitudes, challenges, and potential solutions within your workforce.
