Developing and Capturing Deep Smarts

How to hear problems in an engine, how to cook a perfect soufflé, how to match correct shade of a dental implant—these are all examples of experience-based knowledge. Dorothy Leonard calls this type of knowledge “deep smarts.” Deep smarts is the knowledge that is in experts’ heads as a result of decades of experience.
