In September 2017, APQC interviewed eight organizations on the role of the project management office (PMO) within the energy utility industry. All of the participating organizations have continuous improvement initiatives in their PMOs. However, the level of formality around continuous improvement efforts varied. The more mature organizations had formal continuous improvement processes tied to strategic or corporate initiatives. This article examines the spectrum of continuous improvement approaches among participating organizations.
