The best-practice organizations in APQC’s Putting Knowledge in the Flow of Work Best Practices Study value consistency in terms of processes and designs. However, global consistency must be balanced with local needs. For this reason, many of the best-practice organizations build a certain amount of flexibility into their KM tools and approaches to accommodate the unique requirements and cultures of various departments, business units, and locations.
