APQC surveyed 324 people in 40 industries about whether their organizations’ disciplines—specifically, business process management, process improvement, quality management, change management, risk management, project and program management, and knowledge management—were organized using centralized, decentralized, or hybrid structures.

The results indicate that although most organizations use hybrid structures to align their functional disciplines, those who use centralized structures are more satisfied in almost every discipline.
