Position Title: Research Specialist – Business Excellence

Functional Area: Research Services

Overview:

APQC is seeking a skilled writer with knowledge in a specific discipline to produce APQC research content. The research specialist is responsible for participating in APQC research and creating research-based articles, white papers, case studies, audio/video recordings, and other content. The individual will use existing APQC research for some content items and will create others based on original thought and new research. In addition, the research specialist will service as first responder to requests for research and content customer service from members, customers, and other APQC staff.

The research specialist will comply with APQC standards and requirements. The individual will work with APQC’s research program managers, data analysts, and experts to ensure that the content he/she produces accurately represents APQC’s point of view and serves the needs of APQC’s marketing department and member organizations. The individual will also upload and organize content using APQC’s online content management system.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research projects and analysis per APQC’s research agenda either on a team or solo and write the results
  • Publish all relevant APQC research in a topical area or across topics as assigned
  • Publish content items that adhere to APQC’s standards using APQC templates and content management systems
  • Work with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that APQC research is published and promoted in APQC’s Knowledge Base, on APQC’s blog, and in other external, third-party publications and sites
  • Respond to member and other stakeholder questions and requests for content
  • Contribute to APQC’s strategic thinking across the specified discipline
  • Edit other research specialists’ content items

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 2-3 years of professional writing experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated research and analysis abilities
  • At least 2-3 years of work in the specified area (preferred)
  • College degree in relevant field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Solid written and oral English
  • Solid project management and relationship management skills
  • Ability to understand business structure, improvement, and decision-making needs within large enterprises
  • Ability to form solid opinions based on relevant information extracted from APQC research
  • Some knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style helpful (but not required)
  • Experience using a content management system (e.g., Web platforms, Microsoft SharePoint) helpful (but not required)
