APQC is committed to safeguarding Privacy

The American Productivity & Quality Center (APQC) recognizes that your privacy and the protection of your personal information are important. This statement describes the administrative, physical, and technical measures we use to protect your personal information while using APQC's Knowledge Base and Open Standards Benchmarking Collaborative (OSBC) web sites (collectively referred to as the APQC Web Site).

This Privacy Statement describes the privacy practices for the APQC Web Site, which practices are, of course, subject to applicable law. Questions regarding this Privacy Statement should be directed to

During Registration

When you register for the APQC Web Site, APQC collects three kinds of information from you:

1. Personally identifiable information, which is information that either personally identifies you or allows others to contact you. The personally identifiable information collected by APQC includes your corporate e-mail address, because your level of access to the APQC Web Site varies based on whether or not you are employed by an organization that is an APQC member and your corporate e-mail address is used to communicate vital APQC Web Site account activation information. APQC may also collect other personal information, such as your name, title, and company.

2. Non-personally identifiable or "demographic" information, which by itself does not identify you or allow others to contact you. The non-personally identifiable information that APQC collects may include, but is not limited to, your country, state/region, ZIP/Postal Code, telephone number, and billing and shipping addresses. APQC will require credit card information to complete transactions, but will not store credit card information for any users.

3. Personal Interest information will be collected and used to manage personalization on the APQC Web Site. This includes personalization for providing content, access to other users, and developing communities on the APQC Web Site.

When Signing In

When you sign in to the APQC Web Site, APQC will ask you to provide your username and password.

APQC will not share, sell, or use your personal information in a manner that differs from what is described in this Privacy Statement, unless we have your consent.

APQC uses the information for the operation and maintenance of the APQC Web Site and the operation and maintenance of your organization's membership with APQC.

APQC sends you a welcome e-mail message when you first register, informing you about the APQC Web Site and telling you how to activate and manage your APQC account. APQC may also send you periodic reactivation messages, updates, or surveys related to the APQC Web Site. If you do not respond to the reactivation messages in the communicated timeframe, your access level to the APQC Web Site may be changed. These e-mails are considered essential to the provision of the service you have requested. You are not able to choose to unsubscribe to these administrative messages, but you may choose not to participate in the other messages (e.g., surveys).

APQC also occasionally hires other companies to provide limited services on our behalf, such as answering customer support inquiries or performing statistical analyses of our services. APQC will only provide those companies the information they need to deliver the services, and they are prohibited from using that information for any other purpose.

From time to time, APQC may report aggregate membership and APQC Web Site Activity statistics to your employer. These reports may include personal information that identifies you or allows a representative of your organization to contact you. This is done to verify employment and protect the value of your membership. No individual or specific user activity will be reported back to your employer. This activity information will only be reported in aggregate.

APQC will not sell, rent, or provide your personally identifiable information to any third parties for their marketing purposes or any other reason unless required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to:

Conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process served on APQC.

Protect and defend the rights or property of APQC or the APQC Web Site.

Enforce the Terms of Use.

Act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the APQC Web Site or the public.

Various pages on the APQC Web Site will use personal information for a variety of purposes. These can include personalizing your experience and reducing registration time by using information in your APQC account to pre-fill registration forms.

If you do not wish to receive marketing communications from us, you may update your profile to opt-out of email communications.

Your personal information can only be accessed and updated by you and APQC administrators. Your personal information is stored on the encrypted APQC servers.
