Mary Driscoll to Lead APQC Finance Management Practice
Former Senior Editor of CFO magazine and President of CFO Research, Mary Driscoll launches liquidity management study to identify emerging best practices for confronting today's economic crisis
(Houston, TX - March 10, 2009) - Mary Driscoll, formerly of CFO magazine, has joined APQC as Senior Research Fellow. Mary will lead the financial research practice for the non-profit benchmarking and best practices firm (www.apqc.org). She will focus on identifying and refining performance analytics and best practices within finance and across key enterprise processes that impact financial performance and shareholder value.
"Our team and members are thrilled that Mary Driscoll has joined APQC," said COO Lisa Higgins. "Mary has gained the respect of CFOs throughout the country over her career. Her knowledge of finance combined with her background in research and journalism are a perfect combination for leading APQC's finance practice and providing insights around trends and drivers behind high performance for organizations in these volatile economic times."
Driscoll has just launched a liquidity management poll to take the pulse of finance leaders who are facing commercial debt refinancing and reassessing their working capital management processes. The purpose is to understand current practices and identify emerging tactics for managing liquidity in today's economic crisis. To participate in the no cost poll, go to www.apqc.org/liquiditymgmt.
"Preliminary results from our liquidity management study indicate two key trends," said Driscoll. "First, rising levels of days sales outstanding have CFOs worried, which is pushing them to reduce cash-collection cycle times through a variety of tactics, such as improving their invoice accuracy. Second, CFOs want to fix the linkages between demand forecasts coming from the field and the performance forecasts that Finance prepares for the CEO and the board of directors each month."
Previously, Driscoll was Senior Editor of CFO magazine, a division of the Economist Group, and President of CFO Research. She is the author of Cash Management: Corporate Strategies for Profit (John Wiley & Sons) and a frequent lecturer on financial management. She is serving as a keynote presenter for Cognos IBM Finance Forums now taking place in 24 cities across the U.S. (www.cognos.com/na/financeforum2009).
For the past five years Driscoll has supported APQC's finance research efforts by serving as a special advisor and subject matter expert for research studies.
