Aldine Independent School District's vertical area team concept has enabled educators at all the schools feeding a particular high school - pre-kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and ninth grade - to learn from each other and work together in a systematic and continuous way to achieve common goals. The result has been dramatic improvement in student performance across the economically disadvantaged area and a remarkable 75 percent reduction in dropout rate.
