Every organization has experts with a wealth of knowledge that have come from years of experience in their industry. When these experts leave an organization or retire, they take with them important knowledge and know-how that the organization is left to try and build back up again. This was also the case at Kraft, but the challenge was further magnified by the announcement of plans to spin-off the North American grocery products.
