Sourcing Choices and the Cost of Assessing Risk

How concerned are supply chain professionals about supply chain disruption risk? In April 2013, APQC conducted a survey to gauge the extent to which supply chain executives and finance managers are concerned about three risk factors to supply chain stability:

  • high-impact natural disasters,
  • extreme weather, and
  • political turmoil in important world regions.

Through its survey, APQC also sought to explore what organizations can do to further mitigate supply chain risk. It asked organizations to indicate whether they have taken steps to reach a balance between sole-sourcing and multisourcing within the previous two years.
