Solving the Analytics Expertise Gap

Details

If organizations wish to claim a share of the estimated $19 trillion opportunity that is the Internet of Things (IoT), they need to accelerate their preparation for the data-driven future. The US is rapidly experiencing a shortage of data expertise, and IBM predicts that by 2020 there will be five times the volume of data that exists today. Additionally, it is predicted that by 2018, the US will face a 50-60% gap in deep analytic talent.

At APQC’s 2016 Process Conference Advanced Analytics of the Future conducted a session to educate participants regarding the multiple ways to address the analytics talent gap by focusing on retention and professional enrichment. Participants of this session learned the:

  • profile of successful professionals necessary to secure a competitive advantage in the changing data-driven business ecosystem,
  • benefits of upskilling internal talent, versus trying to acquire new talent,
  • how to identify the best internal candidates, and
  • practical approaches to enabling your workforce.

This is the written overview of that presentation. You may access the speaker slides here.
