Procure-to-Pay Cycle Time



APQC defines procure-to-pay cycle time as the time required in days to pay suppliers, starting from the time that the purchase order is placed until the time that payment is made  to the supplier (e.g., procure-to-pay processing time). This article compares the cycle time of top-performing and bottom-performing organizations.

I think it is important also to add that payment to the vendor does not mean that the check or wire is on the way. It means the payable has cleared and cash management has it in their due date schedule for disbursement.
