When APQC surveyed process managers about what they expected to keep them up at night in 2017, the responses were varied, but a few trends emerged. One of those trends was an emphasis among organizations on improving the maturity of their process management practices. Fast forward 12 months and this priority, once shared by a quarter of process managers, now does not even breach the top five.
Did this change because organizations have completely mastered the fundamentals of process management over the past 12 months? In certain cases, perhaps. But, in most cases, it is far more likely that organizations have not solved their basic process management challenges; they simply anticipate a more pressing set of challenges this year. This article will explain what those challenges are and why they have come to the forefront over the past year.
