Strategy implementation is by far the hardest part of strategic planning and requires all the available skills of PMOs'time and budget management, performance assessments, and problem solving. To better understand what contributes to PMOs' assignment to strategic initiatives, APQC conducted correlation analysis on data from its recent survey, Defining Characteristics of Next Generation Project Management Offices. The article explores that analysis and discusses the characteristics of PMOs - what value they add and what they provide the organization - that play a statistically significant role in delivering support services for strategic initiatives.
