How long does it take for a content management strategy and approach to deliver on its promised results? The introduction of a new strategy can be a major and transformational change in an organization: It may take time to be fully implemented and even longer before the organization feels all its effects (whether positive or negative). APQC research suggests that time gives important perspective--but does not necessarily heal all wounds--when it comes to building and executing an effective content management strategy. This article overviews our findings on the relationship between the duration of an organization's content management strategy and overall content management effectiveness. It then points to change management fundamentals that firms can use to effectively manage the shift to a new or re-launched content management strategy.
