To increase the availability of procurement card (P-card) usage and maintain vendor purchase controls, organizations can use ghost cards. The ghost card, an alternative to individual P- cards, is one corporate credit card, with pre-assigned identifiers for departments, business units, and/or individuals. The ghost card enables smaller dollar purchases to be made, and prevents the use of non-preferred vendors, which can cause organizations to lose bulk discounts.
