In any business area, continuous improvement may be the most essential ingredient for achieving “best practice” status. The best-practice organizations in APQC’s 2009 study Risky Business II: Enterprise Risk Management as a Core Management Process exemplified this in their approach to enterprise risk management efforts. Each best-practice organization placed high importance on lessons learned and the critical success factors that enabled them to continuously improve.
