Natural gas company El Paso Corporation has figured out how to successfully measure knowledge management value and communicate that value to senior leadership. According to its own calculations, the organization saved $1.2 million dollars through network-based knowledge sharing during the first full year of its KM program. This short case study outlines the scorecard that El Paso uses to gauge KM results and the process by which the organization calculates cost savings resulting from KM.
