Organizations looking to improve cost savings should consider reviewing the retirement process for opportunities to boost efficiency. According to APQC's Open Standards Benchmarking® measures on redeploying and retiring employees, a large performance gap exists in the cycle time needed to process an employee’s retirement. Organizations unsure about improving retirement processes should consider the fact that the baby boomer generation, one of the largest segments of the workforce, is reaching retirement age at an increasing rate. As the baby boom becomes the retirement boom, the opportunity for organizations to take advantage of large cost savings from efficient retirement processes will only increase as boomers exit the workforce over the next 20 years.
