BT has a team of 30 internal cost transformation consultants who work across BT to deliver savings projects using Six Sigma and Lean techniques. To date the team has delivered over £1b in annualized savings and aim to achieve a further £400m in the current year. This presentation was given at APQC’s 2012 Process Conference by Shahzad Saleem, group cost transformation director, and Andy Wells, head of cost transformation & benchmarking, both of BT Group. The presentation outlines the three phases of the cost transformation journey within BT, examples of the savings, the processes and methodologies used to obtain these savings, how the team was recruited, and what has been achieved by its members. Two project examples are included, and they demonstrate how a team radically reduced process complexity and anhanced customer experience.
