Common Challenges for Project Management Offices in the Utility Industry

In September 2017, APQC interviewed eight organizations on the role of the project management office (PMO) within the energy utility industry. This article identifies common challenges among participating organizations’ PMOs and focuses on the top three common challenges:

  • contingency levels,
  • methodological consistency, and
  • contractor mix.
