Increasing quality and growing a quality-oriented mindset within an organization requires a comprehensive, well-rounded approach. Intel supports a greater understanding of quality through the Intel Quality Award (IQA), an internal award that motivates employees to pursue continuous improvement, innovate, and grow in Intel's six core values. To prepare for the award, Intel organizations conduct self-assessments, which has historically revealed a need for better benchmarking. This led to the creation of a Web portal and other tools to facilitate more benchmarking and improvement. Michael Dugas explains both the award and the efforts made to connect employees directly with applicable best practices via an internal Web portal, communication activities, and built-in process steps.
