Facing major gaps in student performance among schools within its own system, Texas' Brazosport Independent School District initiated changes that incorporated a total quality management approach and, most recently, Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award criteria. Brazosport ISD, located along the Texas Gulf Coast, has demonstrated that believing all students can learn, regardless of race or socioeconomic status, is key to effectively teaching students and helping them achieve high levels of performance. The 13,000-student school district has coupled this belief system with a quality approach to education, achieving amazing results along the way.
