In 2008, as part of the Collaborative Research study Strategic Work Force Planning: Anticipating and Filling the Gaps, APQC conducted virtual site visits with organizations deemed leading practitioners in the area of strategic work force planning. APQC staff met with representatives from:

  • The Boeing Company,
  • Hewlett-Packard,
  • IBM Global Business Services,
  • Starbucks Coffee Company,
  • Qantas, and
  • U.S. Army Armament Research, Development, and Engineering Center (ARDEC).

At the conclusion of each site visit, the organizations offered advice based on their experiences learning to anticipate and fill talent gaps. This article presents that advice.
