To speed the product design process, Michelin has combined several design steps into structured design events. Experts from all design disciplines required for a project meet to affirm the design direction and create a validation plan for the new product. These events have greatly streamlined and organized what was once a sequential, individual process. Jeff Hidde, best practice coordinator at Michelin Americas, originally shared this information at APQC's 2010 knowledge management conference. Read this article for details and sample plans for how these events are executed.
