APQC Recognized for 6th Time as a North American Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises (MAKE) Winner

(Houston, TX. – Nov. 29, 2010) APQC, the leading nonprofit benchmarking and best practices organization, was named one of North America’s Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises (MAKE) by TELEOS and The KNOW Network.  This is the 6th time MAKE has selected APQC as one of its 10 winners (2003-2004, 2007-2010).

Other winners include: Apple, ConocoPhillips, Fluor, Google, IBM, Mars, Microsoft, Procter & Gamble, and the U.S. Navy.

The award announcement coincides with APQC’s recently announced new book, The New Edge in Knowledge: How Knowledge Management (KM) is Changing the Way We Do Business (March 2011, John Wiley & Sons), by Carla O’Dell and Cindy Hubert. An overview may be found at: www.newedgeinknowledge.com.

“We are honored to be recognized for our senior management leadership and developing knowledge-based products, services, and solutions,” said Dr. Carla O’Dell, president of APQC.  “Thank you to all our members and customers around the world who believe in sharing their knowledge and participating in our research."

The 10 North American MAKE Winners for 2010 were selected by a panel of North American Fortune Global 500 business executives and leading KM and intellectual capital experts.

The winners were identified by their capacity to:

  • create a knowledge-driven enterprise culture;
  • maximize enterprise intellectual capital;
  • create a learning organization;
  • advocate enterprise collaboration and knowledge sharing; and
  • inspire innovation through research and development, creativity, new products, solutions, service design, and delivery.

"APQC is one of those rare organizations which not only excels at knowledge management internally, but also is assisting leading enterprises in their KM implementation efforts," said Rory Chase, Managing Director of Teleos, an independent KM and intellectual capital research firm.  "APQC's long-term commitment to transforming organizations through knowledge management is recognized by this year's North American MAKE Award."

The awards are administered and presented by Teleos and The KNOW Network, a web-based global community of organizations dedicated to achieving superior performance through knowledge sharing.
