Award timing coincides with March release of APQC KM book, The New Edge in Knowledge: How Knowledge Management is Changing the Way We Do Business
(Houston, Texas - March 3, 2011) - APQC, one of the world’s leading proponents of knowledge management, benchmarking, and best practices business research, has been named as one of KMWorld's 100 Companies That Matter in Knowledge Management (KM) for 2011.
According to KMWorld’s Editor-in-Chief Hugh McKellar, the firms on this list are true innovators that are dedicated to understanding what their customers need and delivering elegant frameworks, processes, or technology for the requirements of the knowledge economy. "APQC’s inclusion on the list is based on the breadth and impact of its innovations to meet specific customer needs while adding true value to its entire chain of constituencies,” said McKellar. “As a nonprofit research firm, APQC is unique in its ability to identify, distill, and, ultimately, share best practices for knowledge management.”
"Since pioneering knowledge management as a discipline in the early 1990s, APQC has helped organizations discover and use knowledge in a way that is practical, productive, and measurable," said Carla O'Dell, APQC president and coauthor of the newly released book, The New Edge in Knowledge: How Knowledge Management is Changing the Way We Do Business(March 2011, John Wiley & Sons). "We thank KMWorld for this honor and are delighted to be recognized for our work in the KM arena."
APQC has collaborated with over 450 leading global organizations, government, and nonprofit entities to launch and improve their KM programs and in 2010 was named one of North America’s Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises (MAKE) by TELEOS and The KNOW Network for the sixth time since 2003.
The KMWorld 100 Companies That Matter in Knowledge Management list is compiled by KMWorld’s editorial team and through collaboration with colleagues, knowledge management practitioners, theorists, analysts, vendors, and customers. The complete list appears in the March issue of KMWorld Magazine.
