Rolls-Royce was among the best-practice organizations studied as part of APQC’s Collaborative Benchmarking study Retaining Today's Knowledge for Tomorrow's Work Force. This case study describes Rolls-Royce's knowledge retention and transfer strategy and approaches.

Although it was originally known as an automobile company, Rolls-Royce hasn't made cars since 1971. The organization is currently known as a power systems provider, designing, manufacturing, and supporting a range of products and services for air, sea, and land applications. It has implemented a formal knowledge retention and transfer strategy that is part of its overall, systematic knowledge management strategy.
