Preparing to Lead: Finance Professionals Are Essential in Narrowing Leadership Gaps

There is a dearth of leadership competencies—the skills, knowledge, abilities, and attributes required to lead employees—in today's companies. Symptomatic of this problem, many corporate finance professionals are being improperly utilized and undervalued. 

Using findings from APQC's leadership study and financial management research, this article (originally printed in Corporate Finance Review) calls on all organizations, including finance, to revisit current leadership practices and to reconsider the methods used in existing leadership development programs.
