Different parts of an enterprise demand different things from inventory, and that can lead to trouble. Sales wants lots of inventory, finance wants to reduce it, procurement has global concerns, manufacturing worries more about production efficiency, and supply chain wants to move from push to pull. To be successful, companies must overcome these tensions in the enterprise, increase collaboration with both internal and external partners, and monitor the impact of decisions.
