Better Benchmarking
Learning from other organizations, finding benchmarks, and comparing your performance are challenging, especially when all of the organizations you could compare yourself to use different terminology and process models. APQC's Process Classification FrameworkSM transcends these difficulties, providing a common language to describe and compare business processes.
For example, benchmarking something as complex as recruiting and hiring employees can be tricky. The only way to identify the comparable parts of two or more very different hiring systems is to break them down into discrete processes and to use common terms to refer to all the activities within those processes.
APQC's PCF provides a taxonomy and a number scheme that allows organizations to find that common ground.
APQC's Open Standards Benchmarking database houses more than a thousand benchmarks that correspond to the PCF's standard categories and numbering scheme. By adopting APQC's PCF or mapping your current framework to it, you gain access to reliable, relevant metrics and a new level of business insight.
